have been lurking around reading for the past week, figured I'd sign up.

Just bought an 83 about 2 weeks ago, nothing too major done to it except 2nd gen dash swap, which I'm in the process of doing right now...

ignore the multcolor dash, people felt the need to destroy the only complete gray dash in the local junkyard, had to piece it together from a couple trucks.

That's a great dash swap. My friend did it to his 83. Turned out really nice. He even got the 2nd gen AC components and it works great.

wiring is a being a pita so far, I've gotten signal lights, parking lights, and highbeam light to work so far...thats about as far as I got on it today

so far only had to drill 4 holes in the plate the vin # is attached to in the 2nd gen so it would line up with the mounts on the 1st gen cab. Will probably have to make up a couple mounts for the heater and :pokinit: so it stays put.

I'm in West Virginia.

no big plans right now, just trying to fix all the crap the previous owner did to it.

does anybody have a pic of the engine bay from an 79-80(or is it 81?) the guy put a 20r in this truck and I want to see how some things were supposed to be on it

BigMike

All I've got is a pic of a 22R in my '81:

going to steal the cluster from my friends truck and see if his works

thanks to local mr. police officer...I might be getting another toy for a parts truck :) didnt look at it too closely because I didnt have a flashlight with me, but it appears to be an 89+ truck, thats about all I could tell about it

its at a towing place, they are getting ready to scrap it because its been sitting in their lot for like 2 years now and was never claimed. going to talk to them tomorrow about purchasing it

uhh, no p/s, electric fuel pump instead of I'm guessing a mechanical one, it runs rich, which I think may be the electric fuel pump

random disaster of wiring which I'm surprised the truck didnt burn to the ground because of. There were wire dangling under the dash and in the engine bay with +12v going to them and not taped off or anything, wtf.
