Man i have been trying to post pics of my truck on this web site since I signed up :sad2:
I am just to stupid :help: I just can't figure out how to get my pics from my
digi camera to the internet.
However I will try to explain a little on how I did mine
First take out all of the rear plastic interior trim pieces.
Then take out the nuts holding in the rear side windows.(13 i think on each window)
Careful when taking out the side windows and you can resell them.
Anyways the sealeant on the rear side windows sucks so just work a very thin putty knife
around the window till you can pull it off. :tantrum:
Once the side windows are out go back to the tail gate and take out the rear window.
Since you won't need it with the top chopped.
I cut the back off at 2 points first cut went across the top where the rear side windows
stop and the second cut is on the rear pillars by the rear window.(bottom of rear side windows)
Make sure all electrical wires are out of the way BEFORE cutting anything :yesnod:
When you are finished cutting there should be part of the seam left where the rear side
windows used to sit.(just hammer that seam over but do not cut it)
Anyways that is where I am at with mine now I am just waiting for my friend to finish up the
rough spots and weld in some sheet metal where the plastic trim pieces used to be.
Anyways if I can help just let me know.
And I will keep trying to get the pics posted
Good luck,
Mike

Theres some pics of a runner with the back cut off.  they took the back of a toyota truck cab and welded it on.  If yoy go on the PBB and search for "   poopy   " you might find more about it.

I've got a '92 that has been half-cabbed

Do you think it would be possible to graft the back of an 85 toy truck cab onto the back of the runner after it is cut off, sorta like a double cab or are the body styles to different?I have been thinking about going that way instead of a removeable top.I'm just not sure if they will mate up.

I don't know but I think the body styles are too different.
Why not just use the back of your 4-runner and move it up to right behind the rear seats?

Looks like a 3rd gen pickup cab.  I think the 2nd gen trucks are not similar enough to make it look good.

Because it was nickle and diming me to death it had over 255,000 miles on it.
I replaced about everything in it except the transmission and differentials.
Also the whole drivers side was thrashed my buddy basically laid that side down on a big tree and dragged it down breaking all the glass out of that side.
He paid to replace the doors and the rear cargo window but the back was pretty crinkled not obviuos in the pic because I rattle canned it.
Also the prevoius owner didn't wash it much.
Not a good sign being in the new england it was quite rusty on the frame. Everytime I washed the frame it had some kind of salt residue forming around the drain holes in frame it made me cringe on what maybe rusting inside it. Although there weren't any obvious holes in the frame yet.

I was going to go soft top like the red runner.
However I just bought a early 90,s toy 4x4 truck
and I decided to fab on the rear of the cab like
the green runner.
I think I get to pick up the truck next week so
as soon as I get it I will start the fab-up.
I will try to get some pics posted soon :yesnod:

Sweet runner, I like the diamond plate 'round the back
That's how I roll

KWP

The diamond plate does look bad a$$. I bet it was hell bending that for the inside corners. What I have been thinking about doing is moving the back section up and welding it behind the seats and then trying to cut the tailgate down so it will fit inside the bed and my window will still roll up like factory. The more I think about it the more I think I am going to go that rout.

Actually its not bent.  I tried that at first  But it was IMPOSSIBLE.

Its 3 pieces welded together.  Top and both sides.  Cut the templates outta cardboard and  transfered that to steel.

No need for a roll bar now either,  That Checker plate channel is SUPER Strong.
