So I toasted my detroit in the front last weekend...

So I have been wanting hydro asst,,,and now I need a new locker...I was going to pony up the coin to buy a arb,,but I got to thinking,,,what if I spool the front with the rock logic ram asst??Do you think I will be able to turn a full spool up front with the added power of the ram?For what I would pay for in an arb,,I could buy a new spool and hydro asst set up and be stronger then any locker,,and still get the added help turning the wheels in the rocks..Seems win win to me..But will the  ram be enough to turn the tires in full bind with a spool?  Just looking for opinions before I buy anything...

I can't say much about Toyota's. But my cousin has a 1 ton YJ. Welded front with ram assist (2 inch bore ram) And I've never had any problems steering it. Even with his 39.5 Boggers aired down to 4 PSI

my consern is toasting a birf or two

No problem running a spool up front alone but add hydro assist and I think your going to start busting knuckle studs. Case has spools fornt and rear with 35x15.50 SX's with NO power steering its funny when things get tight and hes got the armstrong steering going, red face, veins a poppin on his forhead, sweat rolling cussin and spittin!

edit just saw yotaboys post. Case is running old school ringed Longs, same set for 5-6 years

With my ARB locked and the tires aired down, I could turn all day long with no problem. The problem I see is like Kyota stated, you're going to start breaking steering arms, knuckle studs, or even knuckles themselves. Good thing about my setup was I could turn if I needed to but I could also make it a lot easier on the truck and components by flipping a switch. I'd say get the ARB and do the assist yourself for $100.
