Curious on everyone's thoughts. I've been running 38 c rated tires for the last 3 or 4 years. Looking into new tires. Seems hard to find a C rated tires in a 38. Seems like 38s are mostly D rated.. same tire in a 40 is C rated. I like the sidewall squish of the current tires. Im concerned that new 38, D rated may be to stiff of a sidewall.
Rig is 87 4runner. Stock the curb weight is about 3500-3600lbs. With added bumpers, winch, sliders, dual cases. MC diff armor. Im guessing 5000lbs loaded down.

40s sound fun...

Dave,

I would stick with load range C tires if you could for the reasons you stated. My 2020 f150 comes standard with E's and it rides way rougher than i'd like.

I usually get down time at work and can look around fer tires fer you. are you looking fer 38x12.5x15

Dave,

Doing some digging. I wasnt able to find any 38x13.5x17 in C either, they are all D for some reason and C was discontinued. 12.5 width has 1 by nitto thats C

37sx17 in 13.5 are all D or higher, in 12.5 there is a few C.
39x13.5x17 has BFG mudders in C, the A/T is D and BFG is the only make in this size.
40x13.5x17 opens things up a bit more with quite a few choices in C.

39x13.50R17 bfg with dcsb 2nd gen here. Also load range D, the only it comes in. I hear you on the C but the D range seems to be nice and compliant for me offroad down at around 12psi and cruising the highway at 30psi is aok.
