Doctors vs. Guns
« on: Apr 15, 2005, 11:50:18 AM »
found this in another board and thought it was pretty good, so I ahd to pass it on

Doctors:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.)

Now think about this:

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80
million.
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun
owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE! HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

* Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

every idiot has a gun these days, so those statistics are out of date... also those are accidental death rates.....

think about all the people that die each year because someone who was purposely trying to kill them succeded... if it was intentional, then it removes itself form the accidnet category

What if a Doctor accidently Kills himself with a gun and then you die because he was the only person qualified to do your surgery?  :smack:

jeez jimbo, its a joke!  i'd say 80,000,000 gun owners is probably pretty accurate.  Of course if its done intentionally it removes itself from the accident category, I think we all know that :headshake:

You are more likely to survive doing your own surgery with a gun than letting a doctor go at you with a knife.

I am more likely to out live the doctor that comes at me with a knife.
