Happy stuff! "I drive an MR2"

Showing up at a local car gathering. Everybody has a big expensive, powerful car. I drive in with my little MR2. All these braggarts arguing how and why their car is better than the other, they can't just admire cool cars. I heard one of these  egomaniacs comment on my little car, "What the f^#$ is that?" and then a few under the breath chuckles and guffaws. I ask the guy why he doesn't like little cars and why he needs to drive that expensive Corvette, are you COMPENSATING for something?

I drive an MR2.

I mentioned once before about being taken for a ride in an MR2!

That car is one of many of Toyota's genius inventions.

Regarding male dongle envy.... yes I believe that could be a factor in some cases.

But... I have known some truck drivers who drive huge semis and wear extra large gloves! :gap:

Since the 911 event, I have been doing research into the "good versus evil" universal belief.

Since the pandemic my research has taken me deeper into trying to understand the concept of good versus evil.

I'm not pushing any particular belief, or source of knowledge, but merely looking at everything I can find.

One bit of Happy Stuff is...

"Scripture notes that all evil, without exception, will ultimately be punished and defeated.
And it tells us there is an ultimate standard of goodness to which we should aspire—a standard grounded in a person, rather than a theory."

Exactly, evil and good come from the same source, the core of the individuals being.

As for theory, as I've said many times before, eliminate evil and the lesser good becomes evil. Evil is a ncessary evil, without it we lose our balance. Too bad the balance is currently leanig towards evil.

Give a thought about those pets when you're out there popping off rounds as well. Loud assinine noises scare the living crap out of them.

Not that those pinheads shooting their guns to "celebreate" give two shakes about any animals out there, except of course their own, maybe.

Or anybody else for that matter.

I've been studying dogs for over 13 years.

A dog's hearing sensitivity is about 10 times greater than human's, depending upon the frequency.

Dogs can hear frequencies as high as 65,000 Hz.

The average adult human can hear up to about 20,000 Hz.

What sound we can hear at 300 feet (length of a football field), a dog can hear the same sound at 3000 feet (10 football fields).

Dog's can hear sounds too low for humans.  0 dB is about a low a sound level that a human can hear.

A dog can hear very low sounds at -15 dB.

A 9mm pistol round has a peak SPL (Sound Pressure Level) of 160 decibels.

At 120 decibels, a dog can suffer traumatizing pain and permanent hearing loss.

For hunting dogs, any intelligent and educated dog owner will use ear protection for their trained dogs.

Shooting off any firearm near a dog without ear protection for the dog is very cruel and really stupid!

As for human hearing. My hearing, last tested at 56 years of age, is exemplary. Hearing range from 18-18k hertz at very low decibels, didn't miss a freq, but needed a little more db at the range of my tinnitis, which is nevre not inner ear issues. Kinda sucks though, waking up when the deer, freaking pests, are walking in the back yard and the hiss of the leaks in the windows when the bathroom fan is on. Yeah, I can hear leaks in the bedroom window when the bathroom fan is on. Suffice it to say, I have good hearing. Not as good as the animals in and around the neighborhood though. I can understand why they like being outside when a TV or stereo is on AND why they freak out when hearing thunder, a backfore or gunshot. It's gotta hurt.

On the other hand, my wife is (seriously, not joking here) deaf (completely) in her left ear, and barely hears with the right ear. She is deathly afraid of "loud" anything but still can't understand why the pets freak out when the guy on his Harley go by outside the house.

That whole "Harmony with nature" is something even the most stringent tree hugger doesn't understand.

Gotta care for the animals we share our lives with.

Well.... then you are like a member of my family.  He falls asleep 2 minutes after the movie starts.... just go to bed dummy!

Movies are like restaurants.  One person's "awesome" eating place is another person's "that really sucked".

I'm not a movie addict, but when I'm in the mood, I look for a 2-hour escape from my reality - typically a romantic comedy with a surprise happy ending (Just Like Heaven), or a good sci-fi without the blood sucking monsters (The Space Between Us).

There is plenty of horror, graphic violence, perversion, and barbaric events in the world, I don't need to shock myself with more.

So... no I don't have a good one for you. :dunno:

We have about 3000 movies in our collection, currently, same in music CDs, and about 2700 vinyl LPs. I'm music and the missus is movies. My ears are in very good condition and music of almost all forms wakes my brain up. On the othe other hand, the little lady is deaf in her right ear and the left is about 60%. She likes visual stimulation.

Got about 15 Terabytes storing what makes me feel good, MUSIC! Digitizing all the vinyl and backing up all the CDs in wave. Most of it is balanced and cleaned. I have one drive that has enough stored in MP3 form that I can plug it in, let it play, and not hear a single song repeat in a whole year.

Then again, I have a few drives that crashed and won't allow access. Learned that lesson and now have 15 Terabytes syored twice on 40 drives.

Still nice to pull out an album and give it a spin from time to time.

I like those doors! Wf=hy does it remind me of a Porsche Panamera?

I like the tech, for the the tech anyways. I prefer a vehicle that depends on MY input and response though. Ferrarri typically bores me to tears. Give me a car that will kill me if I screw up. I liked driving Lamborghinis, felt more like the car was trying to chew me up, Monstrous, vicious beasts!

Another thing I need for my ego, when it comes to super/hyper cars is having the engine behind me.

With my fundage the best I can do is my MR2. Cali keeps me from modding the engine, but the suspension is awesome. This little car pulled better than a G on the skid pad! Drives like it's on rails! Would be nice if it had twice the power though.

Makes me happy!

A couple years ago I took a course from Yale University called "The Science of Well-Being".

It is one of the more fascinating University courses I've taken.

One of the things that we can do to enhance our own well-being is practicing random acts of kindness.

I call it spontaneous generosity.

I've been working on that for most of my life, however in the last 6 years I've stepped up the practice.

It really does make me feel really good about myself knowing that I have made someone's life better, even a little bit.

Back in 2020 when my company was sending people home to work from home, one of the young ladies, more quiet personality, on my team mentioned that she had been requesting to be allowed to work from home and was denied, she has 3 young kids at home. I didn't even speak to her supervisor, I went 2 levels above him and immediately spoke to our Executive Director, and that very day she was told her she could work from home.

I highly recommend everyone to give it a try if you have not done it for a while.
