Marlin Crawler is looking for individuals or 4WD clubs who are willing to lead organized groups into the Springs camp ground for the 19th Annual Round Up this September 16-18, 2022. (Click here for event details)

The purpose of this thread is to gather and list groups heading in who wouldn't mind adding participants new to the trail or looking for a group to wheel with.

If you are traveling to our event by yourself and/or are wheeling the Rubicon for your first time, then please post up that you are looking for a group to join! I will update and maintain this thread with group information and party members.

The thread is looking for the following four different groups:

  • Tahoe Lake In-bound Groups
and for the Saturday exit strategy,
  • Loon Lake Out-bound Groups
  • Tahoe Lake Out-bound Groups

I'm hoping that by posting here it will bump the thread up and maybe get some groups to chime in. I'm sure I'll find some people to follow on the trail but hoping somebody with an organized group is available to meet up with from the start.  If you're planning something organized please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Seeking an early Lake Tahoe departure group Sunday morning:

We have a couple rigs looking for an experienced group heading up Cadillac early Sunday morning.

If you've got a group departing for Lake Tahoe Sunday morning between 5 am and 7 am and wouldn't mind a couple rigs bringing up the rear, then please post up! Thanks!

Hey SuperBeast, thanks for posting! To help find a group, would you please share your current plan? What day are you thinking of heading in, and are you looking to run the full trail from Loon or just drop into the Springs from Tahoe? Thanks!

BigMike

We're bombing in from loon to springs on Friday. Leaving Loon at/by 8am, quick lunch around sluice or Indian trail, as long as everyone is moving we'll be at the springs by dusk. We have 5 or 6 rigs in our group. There will be a 5-10min stop at beer tree for apparent reasons :beerchug:
See you guys there!
Hello all! Friendly wheeler here (once i build my runner, last rig was stolen and im still paying the price :(

Thanks BigMike!  Right now we are flexible but thinking about showing up to Loon on Thursday and camping somewhere above the Granite Bowl or maybe the bottom of Little Sleuce depending on how quick we move and what time we get started.  Friday I was planning to make whatever remained of the trail between us and the Springs.  Last time we went through we wheeled mostly at night, had two sliced tires and second guessed whether or not we were on the trail or not half the time so it was slow going.  I think we spent 8 hours just getting to Buck so was hoping to either move quicker or start earlier.

Hey everyone, I am going with my wife and two boys (3 & 7) starting Thursday. Still debating whether to enter through Loon or Tahoe. Anyone else going with their younger kids and mind if I join? Send me a message if so. Thanks!

I drive an ‘85 4Runner with dual cases on 37’s.

Hey S1.....

Yes.. I'm reading that now.

I spaced out!  I was looking at the photo of the '85 Xtrcab, then got distracted from my monitor, then when I posted my question, I confused the photo with your passengers.  :smack:

It's called MCI.. Mild Cognitive Impairment. It happens occasionally when you get old.  It really sucks when you go to the grocery store, fill your basket up after 45 minutes, get to the checkstand and you realize you don't have your money or credit cards.  It sucks like big GIANT HOOVER!!

If my a$$ wasn't attached I would have lost it along time ago!

Haha that’s no problem, completely understandable! I know what you mean about the grocery store, I’ve done that once or twice!

So what day and route are you taking into the roundup?

Hi S1...

After 20+ year I've been retired from active 4-wheeling since 2004 after crashing my 1985 Standard Cab.

I live vicariously now from everyone who posts experiences, photos, and videos.

I really miss the monthly club meetings, pre-runs, the adrenalin rush on the trails, the cross-country Mexico ventures, the Glamis Sand Dunes, the comradery, and the anticipation of the next great adventure, especially the overnighters and long week ends.

I've done the Ruby twice and was a great trail run.

To go on an adventure today with the MC boys and girls would be at big thrill.

If I were going this time, I'd happy set in with the families.

Please take photos and post them here.

By the way, if it weren't for Marlin I may not have ever got into 4-wheeling.  I bought one of his first Crawler t-cases and the difference lower gears made when rock crawling was incredible.  I also had the pleasure of meeting Marlin and we wheeled together at a big event here in Arizona doing the Martinez Canyon trail. :gap:
