Like the title says, 1996 4runner struggles to start. Everything was fine until Monday 9/13 when the problem started. I took the truck wheeling at Cougar Buttes on 9/11 and had no issues.  Now the truck cranks over and starts up, but immediately dies. I have to give it some gas and get the RPM's to about 1500 as I crank it over to get it to run and, up until this morning, it ran fine. This morning, I noticed it would struggle to keep running while stopped and had to give it some gas to keep it going.  I cleaned the air filter and associated connectors right after Cougar Buttes and put in a new fuel filter last night, thinking maybe I got some bad gas in the tank. Anything else I could/should check before I take it to a shop?

Thanks

Another suggestion:
First check the coolant level to be sure you don't have air in the Idle Air Control valve coolant passages. Then try taking the IAC valve off and carefully cleaning it. When you step on the "gas" you are opening the throttle valve which would be needed if the IAC valve is stuck closed.
