W56 doesn’t want to go into fifth

Does anyone know where to start diagnosing the issue?  The boys and I had a harvest party where we pushed my 85 pickup a little too hard.  If I jam the shifter into fifth she'll go but she isn't very happy about shifting smooth.  Time to buy a heavy duty w56 from Marlin or what?

start by replacing the shifter bushings

if that doesn't help, it's probably time for a rebuild
