Anyone have these?  "in between" regular bead and true beadlocks.  Are they worth it?  Can they be mounted with a standard tire macichine?

In theory it looks like a good idea, not sure if they work any better than a good traditional bead.

With what they cost, your are real close to the cost of Stazworks double bead wheels, or standard wheels with a set of Stauns.

Interesting.  Never heard of Stazworks.  To my understanding beadlocks are not street legal.  But with all the fake ones around now days I don't think the law will notice or even care.  I might try the Methods and another set of true beadlocks for my truck in Oregon.  No need deflate tires around here...No rock crawling, only mud dirt and sand.

IIRC, Stazworks is one of the few that are DOT approved due to their design.

Dont know the 701s.  Ill look.  I just like the look of mine.  Everyone around here is on chrome or black.  Gold is different.  I dont run with the crowd.

I ordered stazworks double beadlocks for my other Yota.

I know everyone has a different perspective on "traction".

Back in '92 I was visiting a 4-wheel drive club in SoCal for first time and on one of their runs in Truck Haven.

There were about 8 other vehicles.  We pulled of the highway and I got out to lock hubs and air down.

As I was airing down, I noticed several of the club members staring at me.  I looked around and noticed no one was airing down their tires!!??

I thought they were just playing some kind of joke on me.  It turned out they were not, and they did NOT air down!!

Not only was I dumbfounded, I was literally without comment during the trail run.

That was the last time I saw that club or any members.

I have been on a good number of runs where at least one wheeler did not air down their tires, and it was obvious watching them trash and bash that either liked it that way, or they just didn't grasp the concept of traction.

In my experience for over 20 years in just about every terrain - airing down my tires was automatic at the beginning of the trail and my normal PSI is 10 lbs.

If there was a run where we had to get back onto a highway for more than a few miles, I aired down to 15.

In mud, snow, and sand - I air down to 5 lbs.

Airing down for me is just physics - more traction.  And secondly - less ride discomfort.

Due to the faux beadlocks, most LEO's likely wouldn't pay any attention to them, the issue would be if you were to wreck, and the cause be due to a failure with the beadlock.  According to https://www.liftlaws.com/, Hawaii doesn't list anything regarding wheels.

When I was looking at methods.., I could only find one rim that was compatible. 17x8.5/9 3.5 backspacing. Only one that I found was a race beadlock.. ive been looking at raceline and OMF as an alternative.

The race beadlocks I saw were expensive.  maybe twice that of Stazworks?

Have you looked into the Icon beadlocks?  It would be a pita to run in all the bolts but it seems like a decent idea.  Haven't yet seen a set in person

The newer Icon Rebound Pro wheel is some new tech that looks like a good split between beadlocks and non beadlocks. Tho I am concerned about potential leaking of the bolts/rubber grommets...and there is the mounting issue if you take it to a shop to install with all the extra work they may not be savvy about.

From my experience (over 20 years very active 4-wheeling) beadlocks are more of an expensive, extra heavy, gadget than really necessary for the average rock crawler and off-roader. There are obviously racing conditions when beadlocks may be necessary.

Less than half the guys I ran with had beadlocks.  I don't recall anytime seeing a tire bead dismounted from a rim while the tire had air.

I ran Glamis for years with my two Toyota pickups with zero issues on tire bead dismounting from the rim, and if a tire was going to slide off the rim, running hard in the sand dunes at 5 PSI would do it.

That's just my opinion, it may be worthless.

I'm running the icon rebound pros.
Only have about 600mi on them so far.
They took about an hr per wheel to setup.
Liked the idea of having a traditional beadlocks but not the weight, cost or availability.
The icons are much lighter, less expensive readily available.
They are quite a bit stronger than standard rims.
Had to run a tap through some of the holes, wasn't fun and a bit scary.
