How to test a zip locker?
« on: Jan 18, 2021, 05:58:01 PM »
I’m looking at buying a zip locker off craigslist for $375 and I wanted to ask if anyone knew a good way to test an air locker to make sure that it functions also is a used locker worth $375?

Just the locker if it were the whole 3rd with like 4.88 I’d happily pay twice that but it’s just the locker no compressor or anything else. I also have no experience with air lockers but I want to put one in my front diff and this might be controversial but I’m gonna put a Detroit TrueTrac in the rear.

And yea sounds a bit high I really don’t want to pay more than 300 but he wanted 450. Either way I don’t have my heart set on it and definitely need to test it before I buy.  I assume I can just hook up an air compressor and attempt to lock it But I don’t know

i ran lockrights front and rear fer years. the rear crosspin sheared and took out the rear 3rd. ordered a complete 3rd from marlin with a detriot and been happy.

i understand wanting an air locker. easy to turn, on and off capable, haveing air onboard is a huge plus so you can air up tires and whatnot.

To test an arb you apply 90 psi with an air compressor, I assume a zip would be the same.
