I could really use some help here from the genuises  :eyebrow:

I am real close to installing my crawler box, but am concerned about possible bearing failure in my current trans/t-case because of the heat that it radiates.  By tonight I will have my crawler box assembled and ready to go in, driveshafts are going to the shop on Friday, but don't know if I need to set aside time for rebuild on trans/t-case.  It works fine, does everything it's suppossed to, but seems to be radiating a lot of heat - anybody know what normal tranny/t-case oil temp is in one of these rigs?

Is there a bearing that typically fails?

I'm running the w56 in an 85 EFI 4Runner,... help :smack:

so you're worried about the tranny temps?  as long as there isn't anything already broke, i think it'll be fine.  using some good synthetic gear oil in the tranny and t-case sure couldn't hurt though.  i'd run redline MT90 in the tranny(GL4 rated so you'll have smoother shifts than with GL5 oil) and a good GL5 85w90 or better in the t-case

Synthetic oil, great idea!  I want to preserve my investment as long as possible and the tranny could shift a little easier - thanks for the input!

Any ideas on actual tranny temp?..... anyone :help:

So I'm really bummed we have no tranny experts out there that can answer this question.  I really don't want to put this thing back in without knowing if it's running hot, HELP PLEASE :sad2:
