I preordered a mc08 adapter several weeks ago. upon receiving it day before yesterday I noticed there were no gaskets. So today I called to find out why no gaskets. First Kyle wants me to send him a picture of what I received. I didn't understand why? then he tells me he has to got talk to his manager about it. When he gets back on the line with me he explains that they didn't have the gaskets for the kit so the sent me a tube of grey rtv silicone. I told him I didn't want to put it together like that. There is a gasket for it. I want to put it together right. HE then proceeds to tell me they are not match machined surfaces and that it is better to use silicone. Bottom line here to me is I paid a premium price for these parts and I'm not interested in using silicone where there is supposed to be a gasket. I never had any problems like this years ago. Back then I was dealing with Dean Smith. Rest in
peace my friend you are dearly missed.

Honestly you are better off using silicone in my opinion. I have no gaskets on my rig from trans to duals.....no leaks in 5 years. I do get what you are saying though. :driving:

Get over yourself guy.
You wanting to use gaskets over RTV in this situation shows your blatant lack of real life experience.

[/My real life experience is why I want gaskets.Got 3k in 2 gear boxes and I paid for gaskets shouldn't I get to decide if they get used?quote]

[This post is not about wether or not to use a gasket. This is about buying an adapter kit that has these MarGaskets that are supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread and then getting a tube of silicone instead. Then when I call I get a car salesman type of runaround instead of just explaining that they didn't have the gaskets and will send them when they get them. Dean Smith was always a straight shooter with me and I never had any problems dealing with him./quote]

Hello, if you dont mind Id like to weigh in on this a bit.  So Kyle asked you to send a picture because he is new and didn't know that we don't send those adapters with gaskets anymore, and anytime a package or kit is missing a part our protocol is get a picture for our records to show why we are sending out parts on a completed order.  However once he discussed the problem with us, we explained to him that we no longer use gaskets, but instead RTV.  Because no two machinists are the same, the factory machinist is going to machine parts differently than our machinist (not to mention dissimilar metals), the RTV fills those differences much better than a paper gasket.  We had better luck with RTV and switched to using that here in the shop, so that is also the way we sell it. So I think it was just a misunderstanding with a new employee and maybe a little bit of miscommunication but I hope that explained it better, if you still have any questions or concerns, let me know.

I actually prefer a thin film of rtv on my paper gaskets but thats just me.

Brian if you choose to use a gasket make one or go to Toyota and buy a transmission to tcase gasket  and use a thin film of rtv.
