dual case instal Q

hello. got a dual case set up from a truck i parted out want to instal it in my 85 pickup with w56e behind it. dual cases originally were behind a g52 or 54 I believe. When instaling will i need to use the driver shift rod from the w56 (weld it with 1/4 in stock) or will the shift fork from the g series thats already welded work? iv heard they are different lengths?
