cheers crawlers, I hope your having a good weekend but if your reading this your not out on the trails :( I feel your pain.

I've done my due diligence, I'm confused and still having trouble finding the right info for matching everything up here with the subtle differences. I currently have a 4 speed L45 still going strong actually. I did a little lift and need a longer front drive shaft so i ordered the kit from Marlin, Ideally I'd have shafts made once so I've sourced two t-cases... the top shift reduction loner came with 4.7 gear set (not Marlin) but for $100 what a deal! I finally ordered the MC08 if LowRange actually has any stocked and now I'm in the market for a 5 speed trans. since I don't have a problem making new brackets it sounds like a forward shift 4cyl W56 will pretty much match my shifter location now (bench)... IF my second t-case has the right length shift rods.. maybe I got lucky? trouble is I don't know what this case came out of, looking at the t-case bible I think it could be narrowed down to type B-2 or 6-A.. can anybody tell me what I'm missing? the yota is a DD so I need to be sure everything will fit together in one go :crossed: new clutch? new slave cylender?.. anything else?  :phone: dial marlin?

You are over thinking it. There are two cases. Top shift and forward shift.
Top shift 79-83 and w56 (84-88)
Forward shift carb (84-88) w56 c&d (89-95)

A w56 a or b with two topshift cases should be perfecr in your first gen
hold this. . .

Thanks for the reply gnob, the bible (t-case) speaks of two forward shifters, old w/4.5" shift rods and newer 4" shift rods and it doesn't seem easy to source just the rods. my current case is an '81 forward sift so I know it has the wrong rods for a W56C, my main concern is if my 4x shifters move back they'll be in my bench seat but maybe not, I'll have to find that measurement.  :hammerhead:
