My Club is going to be running the Con' and Fordyce from Aug. 25th-Sept. 3rd as well, maybe we'll manage to cross paths. Our Wagonmaster hasn't hashed out the details, but we know that We'll Be There. I'll fill you in as I get our itinerary nailed down so we can either meet up or stay out of each others way. I have a feeling we're not going to be the only groups "Runnin' the Con'" on that week. It'd be nice to meet The Wet Wheelers face to face, and any other Crawler folks, too.

How many rigs on average will you guys roll with?

Seven rigs have shown interest, so far, but that will whittle down as the season rolls on. Break-downs, family issues, "dog ate my homework", you know how it goes. I'd say 4-5 solid adventurers, for sure. Epic for sure, Bestgen!

My house is about 30 minutes drive to eagle lakes/cisco side of Fordyce! if I can get my fj done I would love to come. even if not I have lots of parking and tools if you guys are in need of repair when the trip goes down let me know. I have done quite a few parts runs out to Fordyce as well if trail breakdowns occur.

also if you guys want to park tow rigs at my house instead of Cisco I bet we can squeeze in 3-4 trucks and trailers. it will save you some time on the route in also

i live right off hwy 174 which turns into hwy 20 that cuts over from I80 to 99/5 to head back to washington.

I would definitely not park a tow rig at eagle lakes. way too many break ins and vandalism there. there are also some anti wheelers known to vandalize tow rigs in that parking lot.

I would suggest running rubicon from loon to Tahoe then head up 89 to meadow lakes and run Fordyce down to eagle lakes then out and home if you have tow rigs.

So all of us having allotted time from the 25th to the 3rd, and the trail plan we chose not having as much to fill that time. I propose a change to the schedule as follows:

You'll see I've slid Fordyce days and travel home day to the right and inserted a day and night in Tahoe. This was actual my girl's idea as she and I love the town. The thought process here is that by the time you are getting out of the Rubicon you have dust in every nook and cranny of your person. Plus we will have been on the road without showers for 4 days at this point. So a nice hot shower and a set of meals we don't have to prepare for ourselves will be welcome before we go into the final leg. Furthermore by pushing Fordyce to the right a day this allows Turtles, who are joining us for only that trail that have work commitments, a better opportunity to join us as it is now a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday run instead of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This makes it so they only have to get two days off of work if they are M-F folks like most of us are. Tahoe is one of the coolest towns in America and there is all kinds of fun stuff for us to do that day including a boat tour on the lake, shopping for the women, incredible dining, etc. etc. This obviously will raise the cost of the trip up a bit as we will be getting hotel rooms for that night, eating out, etc. Let me know what you guys think.

I also like this idea. I might leave the group for the Tahoe portion. We have family near and this would give us an opportunity to spend the day with them.

That is still a pretty Aggressive schedule but I think you guys are smart leaving a day in the middle for some clean up and bolt tightenening before hitting the next trail. I am assuming having Labor Day also gives you a day buffer to get home just Incase.

I have never run the two trails back to back but they both get pretty dusty. Both have creeks and rivers for washing up in but August can still be hot too.

I don't see 3 days per trail as being aggressive. Last trip with a less capable rig in toe we made it to the springs by 5pm or so on the first day. This leaves us with a day to fool around at the springs then 3rd day up Caddy and out. Also yes we have Labor Day off so that is definitely our buffer day.

Going to put Jesse's vacation request form in today. See if We can get Him enough time off to make the Rubicon trail portion then head home, With His schedule He will only need two days off to make it happen.

Being a new Job I would say it's a 50/50 for him.
