When I saw this had happen I just thought I'd see what the solution was. So I went to the website that photobucket requested, and as I expected all I had to do was pay some money and I could host my pictures again. They only want....$399!!!...to return this privilege to me!

I will be looking for another solution.

So now where am I going to put my pictures.............

I don't have gobs of experience posting photos on the internet sites. I have tried a couple popular sites, but I could not find a way to create a public link to the photos that would NOT reveal personal ID.

I keep my photos on Google Photo, but have not tried to create a link to any.

https://www.youtube.com/user/GooglePlusPhotos

Posting photos here has been a challenge for me and requires time to crop, resize, and compress.  The limited file size imposed here is too small.

Yup this sucks. They're literally holding our photos hostage. Luckily I have my photos automatically backup through Google as well as a personal server

Everyone that doesn't have the most expensive account option with photobucket.

What PB is doing seems to me to be a radical move. Since internet commerce is highly affected by reputation, I'm curious about how this will financially work out for them?????

That may be exactly what they have planned.  Corporate bankruptcy can be a very financially rewarding way to walk off with millions of dollars with virtually no penalties.

My guess is they already are or on the verge, and that is why they came up with the $400 amount, their other fees for services must not be covering the loss of advertiser dollars due to loss of market share.

Does this mean all the forum pics posted using photobucket will eventually disappear or that we just cant continue using photobucket to post pics?

I am not so good with computers and was just getting comfortable using photobucket  :smack:.  So what now?

I have noticed their advertising has gone up substantially in the last year, almost to the point of being cumbersome

both (although you could post the pics and only see them from PB)

You have to find another site to do the same thing.... (I'm looking.....)

I did manage to logon to photobucket last night.     My pictures are still there, and you can download them back to your PC.

I used PB mainly for the embedded pics.    I did however have a few albums that were set up like a forum post with pictures of a fix and comments on what I was doing.    And rather than reinvent the wheel, I would just post a link to PB.     I think those should work until PB goes bellyup

:yikes: That is messed up! The amount of tech that will be lost will be tremendous

It's going to be rough when the forums are gone.

I use Flickr for all my photo hosting and it has been a great experience.  1TB of free photo storage and great ability to categorize.  Also sharing/embedding photos takes like 2 clicks + 1 copy and paste.

I'd highly recommend it!

FB will not me download my pics anymore. It starts and then freezes up.  Some pictures I have, but some because of lost hard drive or laptops I only had on FB.
