What transmission(s) will swap with a W52?

Hey everyone,
So, the W52 in my 85' 2wd pickup just went out, and I am trying to find a trans. on craigslist to replace it with for the time being.
I would like to know what would be a direct swap - no fab work aside from maybe where the stick comes up into the cab. I don't have the tools to build an adapter, or modify a drive line at the moment, so direct swap will be necessary.

Thanks for any and all replies. Links to tech pages with the info would also be as much appreciated as an answer, I don't need my food chewed for me, I just haven't found anything in my research (most info out there on toyo transmissions seems to be on the 4WD's).

Top-end: 20R head with 22R valves - dual springs, LCE Pro Turbo Camshaft (456 lift, 270 in - 276 out), mild port work.
32/36 Weber carb in, and custom built headers out.
In process of throwing a KO3 turbo out of an Audi A4 into it. Just need exhaust manifold and plumbing done.

Also, have an '87 Corolla FX-16 in the process of rebuilding. Started knocking on me 2 weeks after purchase, with supposed rebuild 20k ago.
It's a sick little sleeper though.

I was looking at buying a W55, so I asked around on here and a guy who resells lots of toyo parts said that A W55 would only work if I got the drive-line as well because the transmissions are different lengths.
And I think the W55 is a 4WD trans. and thusly wouldn't work.

w56 is 4wd w55 is 2wd. A W52 is more common in Australia so I'd just go with the w55 and have your drive line shortened or buy one for a w55.

Or.... just buy a W52 replacement... or have a tranny shop rebuilt it?

Scavenging my entire state on Craigslist and still having a hard time finding much in the way of 2WD transmissions. Let alone specifically a W52.  So far I have found 2 possibilities.

1: W55; so I would have to shorten my drive-line - and it has no bell housing, but I haven't seen any info to indicate that the bell housings are anything but interchangeable.

2: W50; which I do not know if it is the same length or if i'd be in the same boat as with the W55.

Gnarls.

The W52 was only offered in a select few 2wd trucks is why he's having a problem finding another one.

http://www.midwesttrans.com/Toyota_w_series.html   -- if they have a rebuild...not a cheap solution.

Another option might be to search the Import wrecking yards.  They usually are connected to other yards' inventory.  Might get lucky and find one.

Just trying to help....

At $900 for a rebuild, i'd be more inclined to buy a W55, and shorten the driveline. I would suppose the cross member would need to be moved back as well.

Oh....based upon your initial comment, I thought you did not want to do any fab work??...

But, I understand how "money" can be a mind-changer!

Yeah,  since I don't have the tools to do the fabrication work my self I was hoping to avoid paying a shop to do it.
So, if the alternative is to pay even more money to keep the same transmission, that kind of defeats the purpose.
I thought that there would be at least one if not multiple transmissions that would just swap in directly. I really did not think that finding a comparable transmission would be this much of a pain in the ass. But I guess that's what happens when you have the luck to buy a Toyota with a rare to the U.S. - Australian, 2WD transmission.
