Rig Advice

I just bought a large piece of acreage in the middle of the San Isabel National forest in Colorado.

It has some decent grades, nothing too crazy but definitely wouldn't be fun to get stuck and have someone come wench me out of.

I've been knocking out trees to put in some trails around the property so I can set up a large garden in a mountainside meadow.

I worked as a mason by trade for a couple years a good while ago and am seriously considering quarrying and shaping local granite and building my own spot. Also have various stuff to tow around. Wood chipper, cement/mortar mixers, and a log arch.

So I would need to build out a rig that can crawl up decent hills, tow and still retain some capacity to haul decent loads in the bed.

This spring I am going to start to put together a crawler/hauler to run around in.

Any recommendations on the rig setup?

Any Toyota between '79-'95 would work for you, diff locker front and rear should help to keep you from getting stuck often, but getting stuck will still happen, so if you are going to be the only rig, then you will want a winch and pul-pal along with some type of portable traction to get unstuck. With the low range t-case, you should be able to tow most of the equipment with ease in low range, could always add a second transfercase if you need more towing ability.

why stick to only 79-95? don't discount the tacoma/t100 or tundra.

I personally am a 3.4L fan for the power durability and longevity. there are plenty of aftermarket parts for all now a days. Find a 3.4 and 5 speed in a tacoma or t100 and you wont be disappointed.
