well it's that time aging to flood my page with pictures then forget about it for a few months

This pretty much brings me up to date, blew the front ring gear the same weekend I swapped to the summer tires, rebuilt it the weekend after and back in action

Realizing how much I miss threads I figured I should start this back up again.

Starting from where I left off it didn't change much from 2019-21 just got wheeled hard and repaired, I was breaking birfs fairly often so was time to do rcv's. I had wanted to widen my axle 3" and with rcv offering shafts it was the perfect time, I also did fror keyed flat arms for better clearance and keep the steering arm nuts from loosening off

Later that spring I built a tube bed and it continued to get wheeled hard till fall when some major changes started to happen

Love the truck, I need to go through and read your thread from the beginning when I get a chance. That axle widening sleeve - is that a part you can buy or something you made? It's a smart move going plus width, I hate the scrub radius of wheel spacers.

Ok, I really like how you beat the snot out of this truck but keep bringing it back to life with new body work and paint. A very pragmatic build too, very well done.

Thank you! This was my first truck and has taught me so much and helped me meet lots of really good people along the way. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

The 3" spacer is something I made but was an idea I got from an old pirate 4x4 thread. I like not having all that scrub steer, definitely easier on parts

If you like the body work I have some good pics coming as it was due for a rebuild by the end of 2021

Next up was prep for future mods, narrowed the rear frame rails 10" and did tube work to just run bed sides

The body was at a new level of destroyed at this point but that just meant some body work was in my future

I was just thinking about this truck and re read this thread the other day.  Good to see an update.

Widening the axle is pretty slick and those knuckle gussets look good too. You've got some fab skills for sure. Suprised to see you've been running stock shafts this whole time.

Thanks! my first real job was in a fab shop, defiantly wouldn't be doing a lot of this without that experience. my old shafts were 27 spline tg, they did pretty good with the 35s even in rocks but the 38s are pretty heavy and find all the traction

Next order of business was to get the cab back to semi presentable condition. The red cab was pretty toast but the floors were still solid and I had another cab in decent shape with rotten floors and a smashed front clip. Splicing the two together was fairly easy as there was spot welds across the floor and on the inside of the a pillar

Yeah, I'd say the time at the fab shop paid off. That's some impressive work. Brown Toyota's always look good.

Did you move the rear springs in also?

Cheers, I narrowed the back of the frame 10" to make the rear leafs match the width of the front, it really helped the 63s flex and gave me room for rear steer...

Speaking of rear steer, this was the big reason I narrowed my frame.this will be my 3rd winter on this setup and it has been working great
