I have an 84 pickup and want good tires to wheel with. I live in south east washington where we get mainly deep snow and some mud but not alot. the closest things we have to racks are some steep gravely hillclimbs with some big rocks(larger than fist size). I want probably 38's or 37'S. I'm not too worried about road performance because I have a set of simmer tires for in-town driving. Also what size?

Arent those mainly rock crawlin' tires??? How would they do in snow and mud?

mud = boggers or tsl SX's
Rocks = MT/R's, etc.
sans/snow = richard cepek or Mickey Thompsons

What do u think of Gumbos? Everyone around here considers them the ultimate snow tire. But their expensive, wear out quick and aren't made anymore...I can still get them though.

get some BFG MT's, they'll do good as an all-around tire, IMHO

he wants them in the 37-38 flavor...bfg dont make them that big. my bfg all terrians have worked well fer me.
i would go with the swamper sx...they have kicked ass offroad fer me. they do weight alot and are hard to spin.

Oh and how will 4.88s pull 38's? i wont ever be driving for a long time to go wheelin'...everywhere to go around here is 15 min or from my house. for summer tires ill get 35's. will 4.88s pull 35s on the highway very well?

4.88's and 35 are right about stock. They will work perfectly. With 37's i would rather have 4.88's anyway, they are a lot stronger then 5.29's.

I personally would run bogger's if you live any where in washington some say they are not as good as there are put up to be. But it's al in perspective and your driving ability, as well as machine performance and strength. The tsl/sx tires ar awsome to, but if you do a mud terrain I would say.... MTR's .

I had a set of 37"ssr's on my truck for awhile. they worked pretty good but they dont get anywhere near the traction that the 38.5"sx's that replaced them did. I was wheeling up at rimrock last weekend and I had absolutely no traction problems and it was an evil uphill mudbog the whole trail. I vote 100% for sx's!

I havent put many miles on them as of yet but interco tires are very touchy about their air pressure and being rotated with every oil change. I ran my last set of 38x12.5's over 30k and they still had mucho tread when I got rid of the truck.
