Footswitch for Driving Lights
« on: Aug 29, 2016, 09:50:51 PM »
A floor mounted headlight dimmer switch works great as an alternative to the usual toggle switch for driving lights, the one I'm using on my 88 Toyota pickup is from an old Ford, it's mounted in a comfortable position next to the kick panel using 5/16 self drilling sheet metal screws.

Man, I don't know man.

I like it but I tend to jam my foot right there when I have the rear end hangin'out.

I know what you mean, I'm always hitting it by accident I finally got around to installing a blue "On" light so I know what it's doing.

May I suggest a relay and wiring the lights through a switch and your dimmer.

Works great.  Turn on your switch.  Drive around with your low beams.  Hit the brights and your KC Highlights or (my Cibie Oscars) come on.  Turn off the switch and you still have your low beams and brights.

Fairly simple to wire.  Need some #12, a relay, a switch, solderless crimps, 12 volt tester, electricians tape, zip ties  done!
