Hello Crawler Enthusiasts,

Total Toyota rookie here with some basic questions. I'm looking to get more familiar with my existing drivetrain and then of course improve upon my rig as time goes by. I just purchased a 1980 Hilux with a 1983 drivetrain. I've been told I've got a 4.7:1 Marlin T-Case which I suspect is the case b/c this vehicle creeps in 4L 1st.  I'm in the process of checking and servicing the chassis and drivetrain. I'm looking to confirm the location of my fill plug on my transmission (I believe I have an L-52) as well as the fill plug for the T-Case ( Again, I believe I have and RF1-A). If anybody has links to diagrams of the drivetrain components with labels etc. I would be most grateful. That, or I can post the pictures of my Trans and T-Case once I have the all clear from the forum. Any info or leads would be much appreciated.

Also, I'm under the impression that both the Trans and T-Case contain a 75-90 or 80-90 gear oil. Looking for a confirmation or correction on that too. May sound like a general question, but I know some Ford manual trans take ATF... Just want to make sure I top off with the right fluid the first time.

Thanks for the confirmation on the fluid. Much appreciated! I found an exploded view of an L-52. I am under the impression that the plug marked #51 is the fill plug. The only reason I am hesitant on this move is because I believe, on some Jeep YJ Peugeot transmissions I have worked on, if you pull the wrong plug you can drop some detents into the trans. The upper most plug on the drive side is what I believe is the fill. Anyone else out there running an L-52? Confirmation? Gracias.  :conf:

This is the new (to me) rig. She isn't much, but I'm digging it.  :shades:
