I just have to say that Zippo is the man! He finished the Tercel transmission over the holiday weekend. I was able to replace the flasher relay so that I don’t have hyper flash anymore. I also spent all day Sunday tearing the dash apart and replacing the heater core and installing the A/C parts. It was nice to have a functioning heater for the drive into work this morning.
That thing has ac?
correct me if im wrong but you have three builds going on at the moment?
Now I only have two builds. I guess you could say 3 if you count my bike. 1. Old Blue2. Diesel Goat3. Motorcycle4. TercelHow many do you have right now Steve?
Sounds like heaven to me.
Well... to me it sounds like a really bad nightmare.. LOL.Gnarls.
Wow that 5th gear is crazy!
Do you think it was designed (softer metal) to wear away like that if something happened?
Yeah there is a chance actually. I finished and gave it to my nephew down in Keizer, OR then he didnt want it and sold it. So someone in northwest Oregon got a real good deal on a well maintained Tercel.
That's sad he sold it
All the more reason the next generation is the way they are. Dont put in the hard work to deserve the things they get. Then just pass it along without any thought. I would be furious if I were in your shoes. Not because it's a turdcel but because it was a project you poured your time and resources into and the kid was ungrateful. Sorry my Gnarls rant is over now.
Yeah I would say that too, but I have a lot of experience with that generation. Each week I teach a new group of 8-12 students in "That age group" and I would have to say that even though they do things very differently, they always surprise me and they give me hope. I knew that when I gave the car to my nephew that there was a very good chance that he would either give it away or wreck it. regardless he needs to have the opportunity to make his own decisions and experience the regret that comes with making decisions. He lost his dad (my brother) years ago to cancer so I felt the need to offer him his first car. I just need to let go of the hopes that I had for him and the car.
Consequences are the best teacher.I have given away a couple vehicles over time, and some pretty good parts. It's tough when you have put time into them and you see value other people take for granted but when you give there can't be any strings attached.
