Shifter boots

I bought the transmission and transfer case shifter boots. Is there anyway else to put them on then sliding them from the top of the shifter, I wanted to ask before I rip them.

Alright thanks. Do you think heating it up a little with a hair dryer could help with the soap

I would try submerging it in hot water, before the heat gun, but I think a little dawn soap will be fine
