I have a 22R 86 with a G54 and the 1-2 up and 3-2-1 down are getting to be a grind. I hate a 94 V6 R150F with same problem that is going to be used for a core for a Marlin rebuild if I can use it a an upgrade without having to butcher the floor to fit it. I will also be getting the gear transfer case. Has anybody done this?

You'll need a r151f bellhousing (comes from a 22rte) then you'll need an adapter to run your rf1a gear driven case, as well as a 23 spline input to run it. Just get a w56 and be done with the trouble. If your running a 22r it's highly unlikely you'll hurt a w56. Basically it boils down to you'll spend more on adapting a "r" series transmission into your truck than you would just getting a w series and having little to no work to install it.
