THAT is GREAT news!!

thanks.

I wonder if there is any way to get that in writing so that investment in exhaust is not wasted.  A copy of,  or link to, the memo??

Also,
I'm assuming a carb legal intake is just as legit as an OEM air box?

No clue on having any official memo/ rule. I imagine that a CARB legal intake would meet the rules, however as many people have noticed many smog techs and Refs seem to go by their own rules day to day. Would be real nice to have a copy of the official rule book to wave in their face in the event of a "no-go" by some grumpy smog tech/ ref.

dntsdad has good luck with these swaps, he finished up his 3rd about a month ago. He still watches the boards so he'll probably see this. I think his next swap will be the Lexus V8. Hopefully he'll start a build thread

Lexus V8 has been done. Thats why I did my Lexus V8 swap and soon will take it to state ref in fresno. There are a total of 5 in cali that has pass. Again issues with the exhaust system only. 3.4 are getting too common and too expensive. Cost too much for the power. long run, its just not worth it.. My Lexus V8 is super strong and reliable up to 300-500k miles rated.. and I can always get a imported motor from japan with 30k miles for $500 all day every day..

Has any one done this swap on a 85 22r truck. I got a rebuilt 3.4 with all new components ofs crossover seems to work but stock 3.4 exhaust manifold seems to be too tight on the frame (this is a 2wd frame) if that makes a difference. got 3.0 reman trans with dual cases, does the smog ref care about drivetrain mods? Also wondering if anyone has found out if the driver exhaust is passible in ca, I'm located above  Sacramento  if anyone know a good station to take it.

I have been assured that the drivers side exhaust is passable, I am getting ready to put that to the test soon myself. Are you using your factory frame motor mounts? When I did my swap I cut mine off and placed my motor where I wanted it, low and toward the drivers side to help in clearing the diff. My exhaust manifolds are not in the way of the frame, and we both have the same frames. My crossover pipe gets pretty close to the frame on the drivers side, but there is no contact between the 2.

It is hard to tell from that pic, but is the fram blocking the connection of the Cat? Or are the 2 inline but very close?
