85Runner passenger seat cable??
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:20:40 PM »
Does anyone know where to if possible buy the cable under the passenger seat? mine just recently broke and the seat wont go forward. I'm hoping that there is a vendor out there the sells these cables. I'm trying to avoid the junkyard but i figured that might be my only option... any info will be much appreciated...

mine broke awhile back too and couldn't even find decent seat rails from a 1st gen runner to swap in its place let alone a new one. so i just jerry rigged some thin steel cable for it to work. gets the job done

you could try ebay maybe, or CL if u cant find anything in a junkyard

goodluck!

Whats up Eric, long time no talk. God its been so long, i hope my memory didnt fail me and i got your name correct. Yes i did sell it, but my wife bought it back several months later. Its a long story, the person who bought if from me was kind enough to sell it back. I went ahead and sent an email to the link you  posted. i'll keep my fingers crossed. hope to see you out on a trail soon.

Sean

Your wife just scored major points here. That is awesome that she bought it back. Its an awesome ride.

Keep me posted on your next run, I am always looking to get out and always short on people to wheel with.

She may take a day or two to get back to you but has always come through with good prices. Good place to find the little plastic parts. where they dry out in our desert environment they stay nice in the Missouri (I think) climate.

This is the part number and description of what I purchased from a dealership.  In the end it was only about $10 more to buy the replacement from the dealer than what the cable and cable knarps would have cost.

#72210-89105
CABLE ASSY, SEAT TRACK CONTROL

If I remember correctly, the part number will end in *105 or *106.  It's based on VIN.  I have an '85 4Runner, EFI, 'non-SR5'.  From what I remember it does make a difference.  If I can find the link describing the difference I'll post it.

Or if you find a junkyard part that should hopefully work for awhile.

I think the passenger cable is known to be an issue for all this generations trucks/4runners.

A new one should last a lot longer than a junkyard piece.
If I don't ask the stupid question, who will?

...more Gremlins than Gizmo the Mogwai was responsible for.
