Topic: high idle question?

I recently bought an 88 pickup w/22RE. It will start right up when cold but there's no high idle like my other trucks.You have to hold gas pedal down till it warms up enough to idle. My question is what makes it idle up when cold?

IAC.  Idle air control valve. could use a cleaning, check timing, spray for vac leaks chech all vac hoses to and around Egr, not a high chance but you could check your cold start injector

my dad has the same thing going on with an 86 22re. I swaped the IAC and no change. I didnt know the cold start injector could be the cause, Im just getting familiar with how efi works  let us know if you figure it out.

I know an 86 has an air valve, not sure about 88..

according to 22reperformance.com its the cold start injector switch, and i believe anything these guys say regarding a 22re, they know these motors like the back of their hand and build the best.

they have the switch but i would test yours first to see if it really is that causing the low idle at start up.
