W56 Tranny help
« on: Mar 10, 2005, 09:36:50 PM »
I've got a W56 tranny that I was going to swap into my 85 22R truck when I go dual cases.  My uncle has an 89 PU with the 3.0 and R150 tranny (I think??).  Anyways, his shifter woudl totally miss 5th gear and reverse and totally go past it when shifting.  We looked and he ended up losing the shifter pin that keeps the shifter from doing what he was.  He came over the other day and took the pin out of my tranny and in the process, broke the aluminum housing that holds that pin

The pictures aren't the best but it gives you an idea of what he broke.  I've currently got the G52 tranny in the truck that will be swapped out.  Does it have a similar piece like this that I could take off and use on the W-56??  Anybody know where I could get this piece with the pin so  my G52 would be complete??

Any help would be great.  Thanks
Aaron

I found that most wrecking yards won't sell that kind of stuff,,they want to sell the whole tranny..Call marlin crawler..they will mostlikly have the part you need..its real easy to swap out that top shift plate..and while you at it get a new shifter ball..Its just a plastic bushing that sits atthe end of the shifter..it help keep the shifter tight when shifting..Its like a buck at toyota and well worth it..it just snaps on..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

No, the G-series is a two part base where as the W-series is a stand along base, I *think*

Go to a wrecking yard and get a base, tell them that its a cap to an A/C pump or something like that, they won't know and you'll end up only paying $5 for it.

If you don't have the time, call us up, 559-252-7295, we have so many G-series bases laying around we've filled up a large play pin with them for our child day care service.

Thanks BigMike!  I'll see if they are similar and might be ordering a Hy-Steer kit from you guys so maybe you could just throw a extra one in the box for me  :beerchug:

yea, if you don't mind.  We could also take it apart to see what's inside.  I've never taken a tranny apart
