Bearings are seized onto the lower knuckle caps!!!
« on: Nov 23, 2012, 01:20:23 AM »
I have tried a torch and a cutting wheel to get the bearings off the knuckle caps. Any ideas on how to get them off would help. Thanks.

Soak it in pb blast for a long time, or put it in a part cleaner then go to town. If neither of those work, you should probably just get new lower caps.

Hit it with your purse!!

Fwiw the torch will make it worse unless you're heating up the bearing directly.

End all solution would be to cut the cage, remove the rollers, carefully cut the inner race, then use a chisel to split the bearing. Try a press yet?

Have you tried pressing them out? nuckle on the press, press on center of pin thrugh the top knuckle hole. Or ust hammer a punch on it through the top hole. It should push it right out

  • I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.

tear the bearing down to the inner race, weld a bead all the way around the race, drive off with punch or ?
Those are some huge welds!
