I recently broke my MAF sensor on my 1994 landcruiser.  I bought an new unit and installed it today. Now when i turn my engine over it barely idles at around 300 rpms and then dies if i try to rev it at all. Am i missing anything or is this a bad unit.  Vehicle ran amazing before i accidently broke the old unit. This is my DD so i need to get this thing running. i've heard unplugging the battery to reset the ECU but how long would that take? Any experience with this problem? thanks

You can reset the ECU by pulling the EFI fuse for around 30 seconds.  Did you buy a new Toyota AFM, or is it an aftermarket/reman part?

I've tried resetting with Neg batt terminal unplugged and now I can maintain a good steady rpm around 800- 4000 but if I let off the throttle it dies down to around 150-200 then dies

I pulled this fuse for up to 10 min while "hanging around"  :beerchug:   and the truck still idles rough around 150-200 RPMs and then will die after about 2 mins or so. it will occasionally try  and kick it self up to around 800 rpms then drops down again. Am i pulling the wrong fuse or is this unit not working?

Yes, that is the right fuse, but it sounds like you have something else going on.  If you are anywhere near Visalia or Hanford, I could loan you one to try out.

i think my MAF i bought is a POS and doesnt work.. This beast ran fine untill i pulled the maf to clean it and dropped it on the ground and it cracked. I bought a new one and now it barely idles at 200. Gonna return this one and see if i can get a better one.
