Quick run down. 1980 toyota 82-22r 95,000 miles, New 20r head-268 cam about 1000 miles on after head was replaced.
I was coming home and the truck started to shutter, when i would step on the clutch it would die. When i got it to fire it felt like it was running on only a few cylinders. Once I got home i checked the timing--that's fine---checked the fuel system---that's fine--pulled the plugs---all look normal--replaced cap and rotor---no difference. So i started checking into the Ignition control module and coil. Here's where i'm stumped. According to the Haynes manual i check the primary coil resistance which are the 3 wires that come off the ICM and go to the coil. According to the book it says it should be between 1.3 to 1.7 ohms. I show it reading .6 ohms. Next i check the secondary coil resistance according to Haynes it should be between 12.0 and 16.0 ohms. It's reads 13.0 ohms. Now all these reading were done with the truck not running or the key in the on position. The book does not say it should or should not be running or the key in the on position or not. If i did this correctly which is what I hope is someone will tell me.. I assume the coil is good but my ignition control module is bad and needs replaced.
