Elocker help
« on: Feb 11, 2012, 09:50:15 PM »
I just got a front axle with a Elocker and longs in it. I got the shafts out and all the bolts out of the 3rd but I can't get the 3rd out.  Is there any bolts behind the motor?  How many bolts hold it in?  And the 3rd has 5.29s and I am running 4 cyl 4.88s. Can I just switch my gears or the elockers different?

Thanks.

I did some looking on here and could only find elockers for sale

I know the e-locker gears are different - they use the same gears as the 3rd gen v6 trucks.

Make sure you remove the electric motor before pulling the e-locker too.

I got it out  the guy I got it from had like a full tube of RTV on it and I don't think the housing was notched out Enough. The guy was right it had the 30 spline longs and 5.29s.    I just need to get the gears to match mine.

I did not take it off would that helped it come off? I had to pry it all the way out with two People  holding the housing

If I remember right, yeah - only because the motor slides over the 2 long studs.  Without the motor, you would have had more clearance to wriggle it around.

That probably  would of helped Because  that is what was making it so hard is to get it to come off the two long studs

Either that or you could have pulled the motor, then pulled the studs out, then pulled the 3rd member......
