Question about my front driveline
« on: Dec 27, 2011, 09:48:07 PM »
So, Ive got an 83 pickup with an MC07 and duals hooked up to a square drive shaft. I went wheeling the other day and since it feels like I have more driveline vibes than usual coming from the front end. It would make sense to me if I may have stretched out the outer tube on my square drive shaft but I dont feel like that would cause this much of vibrations. While messing with it, I noticed that while in 2wd while just letting it cruse down the street that my front drive shaft is also spinning. I do have lunchbox lockers front and rear if that makes any difference. If the vibrations are being caused by my newly stretched out drive shaft, what do you guys think will be the best way to eliminate the play? Thanks in advance, Ted.

Did you have the hubs locked when you were in 2wd.

No, the hubs were not locked. I may just have to get a new shaft made.

Ds shouldn't spin with the hubs unlocked except for a little centrifugal movement. Check the hubs they may not be unlocking.

I know plenty of people running square ds' and they have not had any vibration issues in 2wd and some have actually run them hard and fast in 4wd with no issues. Me I run stock but then I don't have duals either.
