w56 a/b in place of g52 (bolt in)?
« on: Oct 21, 2011, 10:54:52 PM »
So, I have an 84 4runner with a forward shift transfer and a G52 tranny. I am going to be setting up duals with a triple shifter. The triple shifter requires a top shift in front and back. The g52 is a forward shift setup with the transfer. I have found a w56 with a transfer (top shift style) and another top shift to make the entire setup for the duals. I also want two top shifts as well b/c I will be swapping in a 3.4 and will use the r150 tranny with the dual cases in a couple years. I will have to change the spline output, but it saves me some time and effort of completely redoing the first case/crawl box.

Will the w56 simply bolt right up without having to change cross members or anything?

It will bolt right up.  They are the exactly the same bolt pattern for bell housing and tcase.

I figured that may be a possibility, but that can be quickly remedied.

Ive put a G54 in a 87 4runner and it worked great besides the tcase shifter being a little forward of where it was.
Ive also put a W56B in a 84 truck again it worked perfect.  The only issue will be the location of the shifters.
