radiator problems
« on: Jul 03, 2011, 02:07:55 PM »
i've been finding my reservoir full with all of my coolent lately, and my radiator almost completely drained. i filled her and burpped her but eventually all the fluids are pushed out in to the reservoir. i tried changing the cap and like the burping it worked for a bit, uper/lower hoses are new.

any suggestions?

Check the t-stat to make sure it is working, if it is not, go to the dealer and buy a new one. If you can get the dual stage as mentioned in this thread. Do not get an aftermarket one, most are POS.

If the t-stat is ok, perform a leak down test on the cooling system.

not always, depends on where it is leaking, and into where

Red to purple deposits on one side of the core nose are an indication of a fuel additive. While many of these deposits are non-conductive and do not contribute to lack of performance, some fuel additives contain octane boosters that leave conductive deposits on the core nose. Care should be taken to select fuel additives which are compatible with ignition systems and do not contain conductive materials such as octane boosters.
