1981 toyota 22R backfiring up the carb..

i have a 1981 yota with the 22R has a weber carb 32/36 and it runs good tell about 1700 RPM,s and thin starts backfiring up the carb..
dont backfire out the back just up the carb and its over and over not just one time....

i did a dry test and the comp was 150... new coil and all that ... put a diff dizzy in it and still same thing..
new plugs and same thing.....

 :nerv: what do you guys think?

sounds like your timing is off. maybe 180 out. And he means a differnt distributor ( diff dizzy)

timing needs to be retarded and quit running gas with ethanol in it.

Hey coyote you know anything bout aisin carbs? ive got some issues with idle mixture screw and my choke kickdown.

It was a flat cam... Put a 3.4 in it.. Now I have 4 cam's whoop

sorry, I managed to get one working once by removing the plunger on the fuel cut solenoid but that was all.
