which is temp sender, 1st or 2nd one
« on: Jan 20, 2005, 02:11:19 PM »
On an injected motor which of the 2 senders on the water neck is the sender that goes to the gauge?  My gauge has been acting up for a while and I decided I wanted a real water temp gauge with numbers on it.  So time to replace it.

My guess is its the first one.  But I thought somebody else would know for sure.

What is this, PBB?

Can't start the truck right now.  No water in the radiator, waiting for parts.  So pull the wire, what when the engine is running without water.  Oh, and the gauge/sender didn't work all that well to begin with so disconnecting it might not actually do anything.

Doesn't anybody know?  I would like to finish the install of my new gauge while waiting for other parts.  You know to move things along.

Both are on the water neck itself after the stat. I think one is for the computer and 1 is for the gauge.  I guess I'm going to have to figure this out on my own when my parts arive and put it back together

When in doubt and noone here has the answer, run down to the local toy dealer and be real nice to the service manager--or--snag a manual and look at the schematics.  I'd look at mine for you but I just put it in my storage unit yesterday,     Nate

this is nuts.

on my 87 injection, it's not the one on the t-stat housing, it's the one in the intake manifold about halfway back. I think it's adjacent to the #3 cylinder.
I got a new denso sending unit from the local parts store for $32.

I have a 7mge now, but on mine, the upper manifold sensor is the cold start timing switch.  There are also two temp sensors, and the one with one wire is always for a gauge, the one with 2 is always for the computer.  Hope that helps
