Ignition won't start from key

only starts when I jump the ignition to starter. It's a 84 22r

Any suggestions?

when I went to a one wire alternator did I some how disconnect it?

on 22re its behind drivers kick paned round silver relay on top of fuse box
not sure on the 22r might be same place
