1985 4runner project
« on: Mar 27, 2010, 10:19:50 PM »
Well first off I should say this is my first build up so suggestions and comments only.. I stripped the interiors moldy carpet for kraigens rhino liner, and removed all interior panels to fiberglass over them.  I plan on reupholstering the seats as well..
My project may take any amount of time to finish because I never know when ill be getting to it(I try as often as I can).
Just thought id start a progression thread for every one and myself. :king:

ya, thats what im thinkin, I dont want it too tall.  I was thinkin maybe a 3 inch lift + shackles and 1 inch body lift to tuck the tcase.
35s sound about rite for me!
whats por15?...
im gunna eventually put an arb up front and a detroit in the rear

I just want my case up as high as I can get it, thats why i was thinking of a 3" w/ 1" performance BL??
My dad was saying to spray over the rust with rustoleum, quick sanding and then the rhino liner type meterial over top? bad idea or will it work?... or is por15 the hot stuff?
Im planning on using the same rhino meterial for a trim around the wheel wells and bottom of the cab all the way around.  Obviously it will need some bondo here and their...
WHO KNOWS A KILLER WAY TO TAKE THE EXTERIOR PAINT OFF?
or paint and rust in general..
Are those airbrush's from harbort freight worth using to paing with??

i like the idea your dad has for the top that will work. i dont know about the harbor freight spray gun simply because i haven't had to paint my 4runner yet. i used por15 because i got the starter kit for under $100 back in 2004

Ya im checking out por15, it looks like it would be verry sweet to own! unfortionutly im limitied in my fundage :crossed: thats why I chose kragen and rustoleom lol..
My dad was sayin that their spray guns are pretty much single time use unless you love cleaning airbrushes with perfection....

I plan on having 2pairs(front and rear) 6.5" coaxles, 1pair 6.5 component speekers(rear), and two 12" subs (in the side panels probly)+ amps, and ovrhead moniter not decided how big tho..
the back seat will fold down making the back space for sleeping, watching movies, ect..
intigrated airsystem/ toolbox.
I have plans for this baby ladys and gentlemen  :_order:

So when I finally get around to fixing my "bent drive shaft flange" issue, some bs comes up lol..
I ordered a axle flange from http://northwestoffroad.com/parts/serviceparts_driveshaft.html and after replacing the old one(thinking it was bent), I still come to find out that the holes still do not line up?
It seems as if the rear differential holes are in a more square pattern and the new axle flange I have is sort of rectangular shape.
What do I do?????

patched a few spots up front that i miss'd, and painted the rear.
im liking the black rustoleom instead of rust/stinky carpet..
Im planning on doing one more coat of the rustoleom, and than we're gunna roll on the kraigen liner.  Slow but motivated :turtle3:!!!

I "finished" the rear left side, im going to "rhino line" the exterior trim.  Whats the best do it yourself bedliner??
Kraigen had some paint that matched pretty much identically to my truck!
I keep forgetting that the imperfections in the bondo job arent necessary to get rid of because of the trim liner idea I have brewing .
Whats your verdict?

its origional condition-

take note: harbort freight air tools kinda suck :gap:
I have a few questions for any one that would like to assist me..  Does anybody know were to get all the wether seals I need(except sun roof)?
How hard is it to replace a windshield, is it worth it to have it professionally done? Or is it easy and cheeper to do it yourself??
does any one think the right side needs a little more shaving towards the rear? or is that good enough..

if you can get the glass and the sealant doing a windshield in those 4runners is easy its getting the old one out and cleaning the surface that are hard
