Pandora application
« on: Jan 17, 2011, 07:09:22 PM »
For those who are unaware, as I was until recently, Pandora is a free music application for smart phones and computers. It's commercial free and you teach it what you like. For instance, you tell it a band you like, and it will try to play music that is similar. If you like a particular song, you give it a thumbs up, if not, then thumbs down. It will then never play that song again. The first 40 hours per month are free, and you can do 2 accounts. You can also make multiple play lists. It's very cool.
I am a dinosaur so maybe I'm the last to discover this, but it's awesome.

Maybe not THE last to discover this...but, I'll check my contacts in Uzbekistan to see if they all know.

It is a pretty cool program though.

Due to the fact that I am a fossil, please feel free to share some other cool applications that are preferably free, music or otherwise.

I use Pandora, on my PC, and my Blu-Ray player.  The wife loves it.

i used to use pandora on my droid, i used the blue tooth to sync it with my truck,

but ever since they did the new froyo 2.2 update, the stream sounds like CRAP, real tinny and just no bass..... wish they would fix it.....

but yea, pandora FTW

I used Slacker Radio also, was sorta the same thing

I did too till I found that Virgin Mobile was cheaper for 1200 talk minutes and unlimited talk and data than T mobile was for talk and text alone. It's 40 bucks a month, no contract, uses the Sprint network, and for 60 a month you can have everything unlimited. You buy the phone.

You get 40 hours a month for free according to their site, and a full commercial free unlimited time subscription is $34 a month. With this you also get 6 song skips per hour, but that's every hour as opposed to a maximum of 12 per day with the free service, and no banner ads.
If you can deal with the commercials and less skips, when you run out of the free 40 hours you can subscribe for the rest of the month for $1. Pretty good deal I think.
I have yet to hear a commercial in probably 10 hours  :dunno:  My wife says she's heard about 3 but she listens all day.

I listen free and used to hear upgrade commercials frequently when I had Mcafee antivirus on my PC. Now I am using AVG and have not been hearing any commercials.

Between Pandora, Slacker Radio and Stitcher radio, I never even turn on regular radio in any of my trucks anymore.

Pandora is good for all sorts of music - Lots of hours but if you happen to use up all the free ones.......
Slacker Radio - Good backup when you limit our on hours on pandora
Stitcher Radio - Good for talk radio, Adam Carolla show, comedy stuff....

I don't even know how anyone can listen to regular radio anymore. :D
