New guy, san diego, looking to get an 87 4runner
« on: Jul 28, 2010, 03:02:16 PM »
Whats up, new to trucks, but not new to forums. Im about to trade a dirt bike for a friends 87 4runner, but it needs a new transmission W56"b". He said it doesnt go into 3rd or 4th gear something happened while his friend had it i guess, but i know the engine and body are very strong/clean. Really looking forward to getting this and going on some road/camp/biking/surfing trips with it. As far as i know and am convinced, all it needs is a transmission so if you have one, and are in Socal, or Las Vegas, let me know please! $1145 for a new marlin one seems overkill for me because i will not be rock crawling with it. Just hoping to go on some epic biking and surfing trips with it!!

about me, i am 22, and like to surf, bike(road and mtb), and relax. I want to get into skydiving and rockclimbing. Im somewhat mechanically inclined, i have done an auto to manual swap on a car, and im planning on doing a full teardown and rebuild of an engine around next month or so.

Lots of good info here, im glad i found this forum.

thanks, and ive been looking into rebuilds, but some people have mentioned there are a lot of things that could go wrong, like gear teeth being crunched = $$$$.
