tranny ???
« on: Feb 22, 2003, 06:11:17 AM »
I have a 1980 toy p/u and it has a 20R and a 4 speed , I bought a 5 speed that came out of a 1983 p/u I tried to install it in my p/u and it will not slide all the way in , the clutch fork gets pushed forward against the slave cylinder and wont let it slide all the way in , is there a different clutch fork I could try
thanks

Sounds like you need to drop back ten and punt. I don't know exact interchange information but.......

I would place the 2 transmissions side by side and compare carefully things like the pilot bearing size, spline count and length, the fork etc. Maybe you need the flywheel and clutch from the other engine. Or maybe the bellhousing and fork from the old trans. I'm also pretty sure a junkyard can tell you if they can interchange.

Or Marlin probably just knows what you need right off the top of his head.  :thumb:

Well ok my .02. try taking off the slave. The slave on toys I do belive move out kinda like a brake caliper. When the trans was out the piston could have moved out with the presser of the clutch fliud coming though the mastercly.  So take it off, nothing to lose by trying  :thumb: or you could just :.order:
