When you finish looking at the pictures, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "return to main page" and there are more goodies. These are pretty amazing considering they were taken up to 150 years ago: A compendium of photos from the Civil War era. Run the cursor over the photograph and the picture caption will pop up.

I've been to so many of those sites...both Confederate and Union. If you allow yourself the luxury of introspection...it's a very sobering experience.
