Updates on the XJ
« on: Mar 05, 2009, 02:03:27 PM »
So its been a while, few things have changed but not much. Thought id keep you guys in the loop.

So i cut out the old rocksliders and cut the rockers out with them.

replaced them with a 2x4 piece of steel

Then added some tube

The additional clearance was nice ...

but we ran into a problem on the shake down run @ JV  :smack:
It took some hard hits and failed. Both doors where sealed shut because the rockers were smashed up so much.

For the time being ive cut the tube off and left the 2x4 till i come up with a better solution.

Then we went ahead and did some tube work upfront. This will tie into the interior cage in the near future.

As for the newest project. Picked up some 14" FOA's for the rear that we mounted through the floor.

Old spring plates we added shock tabs too

Some fun with the plamsa

Lowers mocked in

These are some fat shocks, literally, 2.5" bodies

In place

Some tube added to the top of the cage for upper shock mounts.

Painted and reservoirs mounted. We charged the shocks too 150psi and they feel great, rides really smooth.

As she sits...  :usa:

Question.... How are you going to remove the shocks?  They look totaly welded into the Cage.......Did I see that wrong?  Nevermind, I see the steel bushing in the middle.   :smack:

Thats a 8.5" bolt. Remove it and the shock will pull out.
