Check engine comes on after about 2500rmps, been there for 2 years, bout time i figure it out. She stutters alot, only during idle. Hoping this is where the prob is

So question: How do you scan obd1? I know the paper clip trick but have no idea where to put it :hammer:, please help, its my dd

your going to want a manual. it will tell you which ports of the diagnostic box thing to jump with the paper clip. then you have to count your check engine lite flash sequence and look up what it means. you can also get a little toyota tool for obd1 from most auto part stores but it does the same as using a wire or paper clip. infact i recall years ago when doing it that the repair manual told me to just use a wire.

Get a haynes repair manual, there will be an entire section of where to place the paper clip.  The check engine light will flash like morse code. The manual will tell you what each flashing sequence is referring to.  The only problem is it is not like the new OBDII systems, it will only tell you a general area to check.

The connector is on the drivers side, inside fender, between air filter box and coil.

There's 2 round plugs installed into rubber holders.   Smaller of the 2 connectors with 2 wires.

Code 12 Engine revolution signal missing..........????

 and i got this off pirate toy faq
11  --  IDL (tps) CONTACTS OFF, NEUTRAL START SWITCH OFF, A/C SWITCH "ON" SIGNAL TO ECU

WITH DIAGNOSTIC CHECK CONNECTOR SHORTED

--A/C SWITCH/CIRCUIT

--A/C AMPLIFIER

--TPS/CIRCUIT

--NEUTRAL START SWITCH/CIRCUIT

--ECU





12-KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL--OPEN OR SHORT IN KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL
--KNOCK SENSOR/CIRCUIT

ECU

ECU is not fixable?? Gotta replace it? Or putting on a new TPS would be the first thing?

Just pulled the tps and nothing changed
