4" Backspacing wheels on IFS suspension w/ 4" lift?
« on: Apr 04, 2010, 11:54:03 AM »
Hey everyone, been searching for a while here and on YotaTech :inthedark:, havent really found an answer to my question. :headscratch: I am looking at buying the Cragar Soft 8's, 15x8 with 4" BS. some have said this works, others said it didn't. i would like to go with 3.75" BS, but they dont make it anymore.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3975860/ But i did find these ProComps with 3.75" BS: http://www.tirepackage.com/Wheels/Rock-Crawler-Series-52-Flat-Black-Powder-Wheel.aspx?t_c=11&t_s=209&t_pt=100021&t_pl=101829&t_pn=PCW52-5883F. Which ones should i go with? any advice helps. Thanks guys

i had an 87 with a 4inch ifs lift and 2 inch body running pro comp series 98 rims 15x10 3.75 back spaceing. 35x14.5x15 boggers on them no troubles at all. the pro comp 98's are just like the soft 8's  :headscratch: don't really know what you mean by this?

if you are asking what rim looks better i vote the soft 8's
if you are asking what BS i would run the 3.75

did i do any good?         :beerchug:

thanks man. i mean the cragars have 4" bs, and the procomps have 3.75" bs. i was wondering if the 4" bs would work, as in would it be too close to the caliper?

the 3.75's were nice. after the boggers i went to a tsl sx 36x12.50, bought a set of bush wacker extenda fender flares. gave the truck a clean look. here in PA the inspection law basically states that you put a yard stick on the fender flare and drop it straight to the ground and it can not hit the tire or you fail.  with the 3.75bs rims, 36x12.50 sx's and the extenda fenders i could "drop the stick" and pass that part of the inspection.

just trying to give you a rough draft i guess  :twocents:

I would go w/either a 2.5" BS or 3" BS, this way you wont have to buy new rims when you do an SAS.  If it were me I would go w/a 10" wide rim over the 8",  the 10's will flatten out the tire a little more when aired down.  I know this is an area of debate over 8's holding a bead better than 10's, but in my experience and those I wheel with, we have found that not to be the case.
