Topic: Toy 8" or Dana 44?

Which one is better. cause i can get a dana 44 for 250 bucks or a toy 8" for 175 bucks with 240,000 miles on it.

im in the same boat, but im thinking bulit proof, all d60 guts on a 85 toy axle, toy 3rd member. other wise a d44 has to be cut down to toy width to be street leagal in some states. check out my board.

with the right parts a Toy axle is stronger than a 44 why waste your time, if you want to go full width start with a d60

mileage is pretty much irrelevant on a front axle...nothing really wears out except the bearings and seals.

Hey Hyena, any idea how much wider? I plan on converting my Toy 8 to IFS hubs (+1.25 per side), using my 1.5" wheel spacers, and get some custom offset wheels, like only 2" offset or something. I should be almost a half foot wider on each side when Im done, hopefully.

If you are torn between the two, then consider that Toy 8" has better ground clearance, smaller hubs (don't stick out as far).........
