Oil in Air Filter-(Weber Carb) 22R
« on: Nov 14, 2009, 09:03:31 PM »
I took my air filter off to check my carb and noticed oil inside the air filter assembly. It appears the oil came in through the hose that connects to the bottom of the air filter plate from the top of the motor. What is that hose and why is it spitting out oil? :reg:

that hose is for crankcase ventilation. it just vents air out of the block and into your intake, so naturally a little bit of oil is gonna come out with the air!  Its normal, dont worry bout it

Werd, unless it's heavy deposits it's nothing to worry about.

does it have to be routed to my air filter? it seems like i've seen pictures of 22r motors with no hose coming out of the motor in that spot

yes it need to be where you have it, this way the "oily air" gets burned in the engine instead of out under your hood making everything nasty and not to mention the unneeded pollution

i live in Arkansas and have NO inspections here but i routed my vent the same way you have and i like it MUCH better,  i dont have the oily nasty film all over my engine bay
